Current reproduction since the late
'70s Mil-Spec M4
bayonet with M8A1 scabbard is manufactured under German
contract by Eickhorn-Solingen and fits M1, M2 Carbine
and
M1A1 rifles. More info can be found here.
This German made M4 is unique from any other produced
in a few ways.
First the blade does not incorporate a 90 degree cut back.
Next is the guard which has "US M4" stamped on it.
The
makers name does not appear any where on the M4.The guard
is welded into place to the tang, shown in picture #5 The
tang is noticeably shorter than other M4's since the latch
plate is not secured to it.
The grips unlike all other M4's are one piece. they fasten
to the tang by pressure. A good pull and they come
off.
The end of the grips have a large T pattern molded on it
where the latch plate sites. The center of the grips have
a hole where a countersunk socket screw goes in to hold the
latch plate to the grips securely.
The Latch plates shown in picture # 6 has a T slot where
the grips securely fit in. The latches are held in place by
roll pins. The latch plate is held securely to the grip by a
countersunk socket screw. The countersunk socket screw
has "U M" and "8 . 8" on it. The under side of
the latch
plate has the number "2" and "FL \ 78" on it.
This M4 comes with a scabbard of its own. To view this
