Post 1951 wider style guard which
is secured by a bent
metal bar passing through the tang. Two long
slots in the tang (presumably to reduce weight)
The grips have the following numbers molded into them
"7266828 H3" &
"7266827 H4" and are held
together by two fully threaded screws with lock washers.
Latch plate has a dimple on it. The tang is peened to
the pommel with a rectangular stamping in the
center sort of like putting a wedge in the handle
of a hatchet to hold the head on. I have no
clue what the yellow paint is for. |
