  Info:    The blade has a 90-degree back cut to it. 

1944-45 production style guard which is secured by a bent 
metal bar passing through the tang.  Two long slots in 
the tang (presumably to reduce weight). It does not have 
the cherry bomb ordnance mark. 

The two plastic grips have the numbers "7266828        H3"
& "7266827     H6" molded into them.  They are held
together by two fully threaded screws with lock washers.

The latch plate has  a dimple on it and uses roll pins to 
secure the latches. The tang is peened to the pommel 
with a rectangular stamping in the center sort of like 
putting a wedge in the handle of a hatchet to hold the 
head on.
